Camp: Summer 2026

We offer week long summer horse camps for children ages 3- adult for the Truckee Reno Tahoe area. Our camps are a great way for children and teens to spend more time learning about horses and spending time with animals.  All our camps will spend time with our farm animals: miniature horses, bunnies, chickens, lambs, goats, and mini donkeys.

Important Information

Inherent risk of equine ACTIVITIES & release of liability

By enrolling your child or yourself in our summer camps, you understand that there are certain risks related to equine activities that cannot always be avoided. While safety is a priority in all of our programs, accidents do happen. We strongly recommend that your child has equine-approved riding gear and their own helmet to help mitigate some of these risks.

All campers must have a parent or guardian sign a release of liability. Hard copies and QR codes will be available at camp check-in.

Camp Booking & Cancellation Policy

Our camps are intentionally kept small so each child receives individual attention and a safe, meaningful experience with the horses. Because we plan staffing, horse care, and programming well in advance and many sessions fill quickly, we ask families to review our policies carefully before registering.

Registration & Payment

Full payment is required at the time of registration to reserve your child’s spot.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations made on or before May 15 will receive a full refund.

After May 15, camp fees are non-refundable unless Camp Insurance has been purchased (see below).

We understand that plans sometimes change. However, late cancellations often prevent other children from attending, as many families need to confirm their summer schedules well in advance.

Optional Camp Insurance

Families may purchase PREC Camp Insurance for $100 per camp week at the time of registration. This option provides additional flexibility if your plans may change.

With Camp Insurance:

• Cancellations or date changes made at least two weeks before camp begins will receive a full refund, minus the $100 insurance fee (which is non-refundable).

• Changes or cancellations within two weeks of camp cannot be accommodated, even with Camp Insurance.

Weather, Smoke & Air Quality

Camp is an outdoor program, and we do our best to operate safely while still giving campers a wonderful experience with the horses. In recent years, August has occasionally brought smoky conditions in the Truckee area.

Camp will operate when the Air Quality Index (AQI) is below 150 on PurpleAir using the LRAPA conversion. If conditions are within this range, camp will proceed as scheduled.

Families who prefer that their child not be outdoors when AQI levels approach 150 may wish to consider enrolling in a June or July camp week instead of August, as late summer tends to have a higher chance of smoke.

We are not able to offer refunds or credits for weather, smoke, or environmental conditions. When possible, we will try to make up lost time by extending half-day camps into full days or adjusting the schedule when air quality improves.

Sick Days, Injuries, or Absences

If a camper misses camp due to illness, injury, or other personal circumstances, we are not able to offer refunds or credits. When you enroll your child, you are reserving a specific space in camp along with the horses and staff dedicated to that session.

Thank you for helping us keep camp running smoothly. We look forward to sharing a wonderful week with your children.

Farmstead Camp ages 3-7

This camp is perfect for children who love the ponies but would also enjoy spending more time with the animals, nature, and hands-on activities around the farm.

Each day invites children to learn with their hands, bodies, and imaginations as they explore the natural world. Campers will work with a variety of materials, get a little muddy, and discover new ideas through creative play and outdoor exploration.

Activities may include nature walks, planting seeds in the garden, digging for worms, building and climbing in our natural playground, and even taking the goats for a walk. Children will spend about 30 minutes each day with the ponies, learning how to groom, care for, and ride them.

Campers are typically divided into two age-appropriate groups, allowing activities and projects to match their interests and developmental stage. Older campers will also have opportunities to participate in 4-H style activities, helping care for the goats, rabbits, and chickens while learning about responsibility and animal stewardship.

Campers must be potty trained. 3 year olds should have experience separating from an adult before this camp.
